The ALKOOMI vineyards and winery are located in the Frankland River district of Western Australia's Great Southern wine region. Since climatic conditions are similar to those of Bordeaux in France, it is not surprising that this region produces some great wines.

The addition of a small amount of Viognier to this wine, as is often the practice with Shiraz in the northern Rhône, has added a touch of elegance, delicate fruit sweetness and a floral lift.
The wine was matured for 18 months in French oak. Growing Region: Frankland River, Western Australia Vintage: A cool spring, followed by a cool summer, led to a later than usual vintage allowing for a great flavour development in the Shiraz fruit. Colour: Cherry red with violet hues at the rim. Bouquet: Attractive, spice perfumed aroma with obvious blackberry fruit. Palate: The palate is elegant and finely structured, with ripe blackberry plum and cherry fruit flavours perfectly integrated with subtle French oak showing great length of finish.
